Cricket Freeman loves stories with layers—and the challenge of untangling literary Gordian knots. Her tastes range from historical crime and thrillers to memoir, creative nonfiction, and compelling work that defies easy categorization.
After a career in business, sales, and marketing, Cricket turned to writing and publishing, working as a freelance writer and later editor-in-chief of a national magazine. She went on to establish Possibilities Press before focusing exclusively on literary representation, founding The Christina Pechstein Agency in 2001, which later became The August Agency LLC.
Over three decades, Cricket has worked in virtually every stage of a book’s life—from writing and editing to design, production, representation, publishing, marketing, and promotion. She has also created August Words, August Words Publishing, and August Words House, extending her commitment to writers and the literary community.
A longtime writing instructor, consultant, and conference speaker, Cricket is known for her straightforward approach, deep industry experience, and ability to help writers turn complicated creative challenges into stronger books.
